I wrote last weekend about how I have completely failed at finding a natural face moisturizer, but in my quest I did find one natural skincare recipe that worked wonders. This hydrating face mask has just 2 ingredients, and it will leave your skin feeling cool, calm, and fresh. Just try not to eat it before you get it on your face.
HYDRATING AVOCADO FACE MASK
- Half a ripe avocado
- 1 tablespoon of raw honey
Cut your avocado in half and remove the seed, and scoop out one half into a bowl. Add the honey, and mash everything together into a creamy, uniform paste. Spread the mixture on your face, avoiding your eyes, and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat your face dry with a towel. Follow with your favorite moisturizer.
Pro tip: have the other half of the avocado as a snack while you're waiting for the mask to do its thing.
You can reap a lot of savings by making some of your own cosmetics and toiletries, with the added benefit of knowing exactly what's going into them (no mystery un-pronounce-able ingredients, thank you very much!).
I'm trying to use up all my old products before I make the switch to more sustainable options, but that hasn't stopped me from lusting after some beautiful zero-waste, plastic-free, natural cosmetics from some awesome brands.
My beloved Birkenstocks are the only pair of sandals I brought with me to India. Actually, I bought them specifically for my first trip to India in 2015. I have walked all over this country in them, and these days they are looking pretty loved.
